Make Your Long-Term Hotel Vacation Stay More Comfortable With These 3 Items

Many people dream of taking long vacations on tropical beaches somewhere, but only 25% of surveyed Americans actually use the vacations days they earn during the year. If you're lucky enough to be able to take off two weeks or more, spending it at a hotel resort is a good way to relax and have fun. To make the most of your vacation, here are three items you should pack along that will maximize your comfort and help you save money.

Portable White Noise Machine

It can be difficult to predict how much noise you'll have to deal with while at the hotel. If you're going on vacation during the busy season or book at a hotel that's situated near a major roadway, then you may have to contend with loud revelers or honking cars. Even if you're staying at a relatively quiet facility, unfamiliar environmental sounds such as waves crashing on a nearby beach, native birds calling to each other, or insects buzzing during the night can be unsettling.

A portable white noise machine can help drown out a lot of these sounds. These devices typically play a steady sound (e.g. rain or wind) for your ears to latch onto, allowing your mind to tune out other environmental noise. This can make it easier to ignore what may be happening outside your hotel room and can help you fall asleep easier. These machines have the added benefit of increasing privacy by providing a screen of noise that makes it difficult for the people in the next room to eavesdrop on you.

You can find these machines at many electronics stores or at online specialty retailers.

Collapsible Cooler for Food and Drinks

Although the hotel resort is likely to be situated near many wonderful restaurants, eating out the entire time can be expensive. You can save quite a bit of money by getting a room with a microwave and refrigerator that you can use to store and cook food. If this feature is not available, then you should pack a cooler to use while on vacation.

In addition to using it to keep food and drinks cool in your room, you can also take the cooler with you when you venture to different locations in the town. For instance, use it to port food to the beach. Be sure to get a collapsible cooler, however, so you can lay it flat in your luggage.

Collapsible Laundry Basket

Whether you are at home or in a hotel room, you will still need to deal with dirty laundry. It may not be so bad if you're traveling by yourself or with another adult, but things can quickly get out of control when you're vacationing with kids. Unfortunately, most hotels only have small plastic laundry bags that are typically used for dry cleaning requests, which can make it challenging to keep your dirty clothes organized.

Packing along a portable laundry basket is one way to deal with this issue. Like the cooler, you want to get one that's collapsible so you can store it flat in your luggage. Since most hotels have laundry facilities on site, having the basket on hand will make it so much easier to sort, wash, and dry clothes during your stay.

To save money, purchase travel-sized versions of detergent, softener, and/or dryer sheets. You can usually get these items at drugstores, large retail stores, or online.

Taking a long vacation can go a long way towards helping you recharge your batteries. Make your stay more comfortable and organized by taking these three items with you on your trip. For more travel tips, connect to a hotel or resort of your preference.
